Toyota GT 86 Sedan rendered

The trio will serve as a preview for the company’s upcoming new design approach and next-gen technologies as part of the @earth philosophy. The first of the bunch is the GC-PHEV (Grand Cruiser) concept representing Mitsubishi’s vision of a future full-size SUV powered by a plug-in hybrid electric system. It features the firm’s Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC) and boasts new preventive safety systems and support for mobile network connectivity.
Up next is the XR-PHEV (Cross Runner) which is envisioned as a next-gen compact SUV equipped with a PHEV system and designed with coupe influences.
As for the Concept AR (Active Runabout), this will be a compact multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) promising to provide the mobility and practicality of an SUV but with the interior cabin room you would normally find in a people-carrier. Under the hood it has a small turbocharged direct-injection engine while the cabin gets a “cocoon-like” configuration which according to Mitsubishi will deliver superior comfort for all people inside.
Citing company insiders, the magazine says the model is on ice as it isn’t in the Toyota product plan for 2014 or 2015. The sources declined to give a reason for the model’s status but previous reports have indicated high costs and production capacity issues.
Despite the latest bout of bad news, the magazine speculations the model could eventually be fast-tracked if Toyota’s management changes their mind.
